Development Program

INSPIRING an achievement mindset, in a HIGH ENERGY environment through athletic development. We are committed to delivering a POSITIVE, IMPACTFUL experience where athletes can build a FOUNDATION to THRIVE anywhere as athletes AND people.

Developmental Team Overview

The objective of the developmental competitive gymnastics program is to provide the opportunity for dedicated athletes to reach the highest ranks of the sport.  Due to the nature of the sport (in this capacity), the program requires a more intense training schedule, raised expectations regarding technique and fundamentals, along with increased time commitment.  Practice hours range from 9 hours to 24 hours per week (depending on the competitive level).

Gymnasts will begin USA Gymnastics sanctioned travel competition when they reach level 4.  Gymnasts have the opportunity to compete at the state level when competing in the compulsory levels of 4 and 5.  They have the opportunity to qualify to regional championships once they reach the optional levels including levels 7 through 10.  Once athletes reach the highest levels of the sport, which are level 9 and 10, they have the opportunity to qualify to national championships (via regional championships).

While the developmental competitive gymnastics program requires a serious commitment including several training hours per week, gymnasts will have an incredible experience where they will be challenged as athletes and as people.  The life skills gained through the journey are invaluable.

Integrated School and Gymnastics

Partnership with Clarkston Community Schools

In the efforts to provide athletes with every advantage Stars & Stripes Athletics partnered with Clarkson Community schools beginning in the fall of 2015 to provide an integrated school day for high-level developmental competitive gymnasts.  Once gymnasts reach level 5 (which is when the 5 day per week training schedule begins) gymnasts are dismissed from school one hour early, ride a bus from their school to Stars & Stripes and complete their school day with gymnastics (which is considered a physical education class).  This program allows for better school/sports/family balance and overall better quality of life for student-athletes.  Gymnasts DO NOT have to live in Clarkston to participate in this program, out of district athletes are welcome.
